Starelco, based in Southampton, England, recently introduced a new plastic closure technology for food packaging. This food plastic packaging sealing method completed with radio frequency technology provides food companies with a cheaper, safer, and more energy-saving sealing method, which is called "green sealing."
The sealing of traditional plastic packaged foods is made of polyethylene laminates, so that the plastics are melted and sealed by heat and needs to be performed at a high temperature of 150°C to 160°C. The radio frequency sealing method was used to discard the laminates and the radio frequency technique was used to weld the two sides of the package. The temperature was only 50°C. The application of radio frequency sealing technology can reduce 20% of packaging materials and reduce 75% of energy, especially to help ensure the safety of perishable foods.
