Steel-free reinforced new technology ---- fiber reinforced panel

In June 2003, Dalhousie University in Canada and Vaughan Load Structures Co., Ltd. jointly developed a steelless reinforcement technology that can eliminate the need for reinforcing bars in concrete road bridge decks and use synthetic polypropylene fiber as a sort of fibrillation. Instead, it has excellent performance.
The first bridge constructed using steel-free reinforced technology is located on the river Salm in Canada. The success of this project has promoted the development of prefabricated reinforced-fiber concrete. Bridge panels made with fiber-reinforced technology can be quickly assembled at the bridge construction site, and full-scale test of the components shows that the reinforced bridge panels reinforced by the fibrillated polypropylene fiber have twice the strength of ordinary bridge decks. Only after an impact of about 70 tons of axial load (equivalent to more than 25 haul trucks stacked together while safely driving across the bridge) can the deck be destroyed. However, we also need to pay attention to a problem, that is, only for the selection of suitable fibers for each application in order to reflect the above advantages of fiber reinforced panels.
Research shows that steel-free reinforced construction technologies have great potential for application in other fields such as forestry, mining, seaports and parking garages.
