ISSS International Forum: Development of Domestic Surface Materials Follows the World

In November of this year, the 2012 International Forum of Sports Surface Technology Association and the 1st China Sports Surface Science and Engineering Symposium (hereinafter referred to as ISSS International Forum) will be held in Shanghai. Reporter: As a Chinese sports surface research and development expert, what do you think is the overall level of research and development of China's sports surface in the world?

Zheng Baicun: In terms of artificial turf products, the Huali Taishan Sports New Materials Research and Development Center has completed the localization of foreign mainstream products. The Taishan Group has realized the industrialization of domestically produced grass silk technology. Developed by the R&D Center, artificial straw made entirely of domestically produced raw materials has reached the level of foreign mainstream products in terms of important quality indicators such as appearance color, mechanical properties, and weather resistance. Reporter: Do you think that there is no common development trend or trend in the world-level research and development industry, and can China's sports enterprises follow the pace of the world?

Zheng Baicun: With the gradual increase of attention to the energy crisis and environmental protection, the effective recycling of resources and the development of renewable resources have attracted the attention of researchers from all over the world. There has also been a common trend in the surface layer of research and development. For example, for the recycling of raw materials in the turfgrass system, the turfgrass can be recycled as a whole, the turf prepared from biodegradable materials, and the low temperature lawn can be used.

At present, domestic turf companies such as the Taishan Group have started research projects on the turfgrass and low temperature lawns. This shows that domestic companies have begun to realize the changes brought about by environmental protection and resource consumption in the field of sports materials. In combination with the technological and talent advantages of scientific research institutions, I believe that our research and development of surface materials will keep pace with the world.

Reporter: You are the director of "East China University of Science and Technology Huali Taishan Sports New Material Research and Development Center". According to what you know, there are many enterprises that can use the combination of industry and learning, such as "Hua Li Taishan", and you think that this model is What are the complementary advantages of cooperation for enterprises and universities?

Zheng Baicun: The cooperation between production, education and research can promote the innovation ability of enterprises and the discipline construction of universities. For example, our school and Lunan Pharmaceutical, Dong'e Ejiao, Sinopec, and Hailong Group formed a joint research institute, and the school-enterprise cooperation achieved a win-win situation. Universities, scientific research institutes and enterprises cooperate to set up relatively independent R&D institutions such as research and development institutions, engineering research centers, etc. Their main task is to transfer technology to the industry, and through the joint development and experimentation with companies, technologies and products are rapidly transformed into Commodity and productivity. Based on your understanding of domestic and foreign sports surface manufacturers, what are the disadvantages of domestic manufacturers compared with foreign companies? How can these disadvantages be remedied?

There are obvious shortcomings in domestic sports surface manufacturers relying on innovation to improve product quality. It is often "a piecemeal approach, blindly follow the trend," and there are few unique and differentiated products. Therefore, many are limited to price competition, counterfeiting and other vicious competition. Compared with foreign companies, it is too weak compared to foreign companies in product R&D, quality management and so on. In response to this situation, companies wanting to achieve more development will inevitably continue to use new technologies and introduce new products to better meet market needs. It is suggested that the combination of production, education and research be used to take advantage of the scientific research and talents of the university and bring into play the radiation effect of high technology.

Reporter: Will you attend the 2012 International Sports Surface Technology Association Technical Forum and the 1st China Sports Surface Science and Engineering Symposium held in Shanghai in November this year? What are your expectations and prospects for this conference?

Zheng Baicun: I will definitely attend the 2012 International Forum on Surface Movement Science and Technology held in November this year. A science and technology organization like ISSS came to Asia for the first time, came to Shanghai, and was jointly organized by the venue resource network and our East China University of Science and Technology. I hope that such an international forum will help China's sports industry to understand and absorb advanced international technologies. At the same time, it will display the level and broad development prospects of China's sports materials science and engineering to the international counterparts, and build a platform for researchers and business people engaged in sports materials science and engineering to understand the world and go abroad.

Reporter: In your mind, what kind of organization is ISSS? For the first time they came to China, what kind of help could they bring to the domestic sports surface?

Zheng Baicun: The International Association for Sports Surface Sciences (ISSS) was established in 1985. It is an independent scientific organization with research groups and scientists as members; currently, ISSS has 17 member states and 21 corporate members. There are 9 individual members and 5 honorary members. ISSS provides scientific and technical support for the sports surface layer for the IAAF, FIFA, FIBA, FIH, etc. The international Olympic Games, the Football World Cup and others involve venue sports. For the competition project, its surface layer manufacturing technology and performance are referenced to the standards and rules of the ISSS research agreement and the technical performance of the members of the ISSS (as the testing member).

They came to China for the first time to promote and promote the international movement of domestic sports through exchanges, and help the domestic surface to integrate with international standards in fields such as manufacturing technology, product testing, construction standards, and merchandise import and export.

Reporter: In this forum, what kind of content will you use to communicate with IISS and participating domestic companies? What new ideas and advanced technologies do you hope to bring to these companies through communication?

Zheng Baicun: In recent years, I have always been engaged in the work related to the research and development of sports surfaces. I have a little experience in materials science research, product development and engineering. In this seminar, it is planned to share with the domestic and foreign counterparts the research work of the sports materials subject of East China University of Science and Technology in four aspects. The first is sports fiber materials, which mainly include synthetic straws, tennis racquets, etc. The second is sports protection materials, including XPE, PP, and rubber foaming and cell shape control technologies, and these materials are in wrestling, judo, boxing, and diving. The application of sports protection; the third is sports construction materials, including ground materials of stadiums and stadium energy-saving materials, etc. Fourth, functions and composite materials. For phase change materials used in deep-sea diving suits, the heat absorption and heat release characteristics of the phase change process keep the diver's body temperature constant. Zheng Baicun: In the past, the ISS focused more on hosting site testing technology forums. Participants were mostly institutions engaged in site testing. The forum absorbed the participation of domestic scholars, sports material manufacturers, and contractors. The topics and content of the discussion were more abundant. Now. Through communication, not only can we understand the progress of detection technology, but also can understand the technological development trends in materials manufacturing, application and construction. Through exchanges and interactions, it is also possible to explore the cooperation between production, learning, research, and cooperation between domestic and international companies. Cooperation models can be diversified, such as technical grants, technology development, co-construction of R&D institutions or laboratories, establishment of economic entities, joint training of talents, and sharing of technical resources for technical consulting or services.

Zheng Baicun: The first part of this conference is an international special topic on the topic “Developments of Sport Surface Materials and testing technique”. The latter part is a special session in China. The theme is "Chinese Sports Surface Materials and Installation Conference" (the first China Conference on Moving Surface Science and Engineering). The conference exchanges and discussions mainly include: 1) Preparation of synthetic surface materials for sports venues Technology; 2) Physical and chemical performance indicators and detection of moving surface materials; 3) Relationship between moving surface facilities and human ecology; 4) Relationship between new material technology development and sports venue facilities.
