Royal Special Forces Training Manual (Chapter 7 3)

Boat squadron

When the special boat squadron emerged in the elite amphibious force,

The special squadron boat squadron also has the same capabilities and methods of combat. The main difference between the two is that the special aircrews are mainly responsible for amphibious penetration in the ground operations. While the special boat squadron can also play this role well, its main task is to stay in the water to the maximum extent. If not, it is underwater destruction.

Obviously, the nature of the tasks of the two units is basically the same. In fact, the special boat squadron resides in Heleford, but this does not conflict. Sailboat squadrons often perform training, exercises, and battles with special boat squadrons. The relations between the two sides are harmonious (in the Falklands War of 1972, on the Elizabeth II cargo ship, the two sides had conducted cooperation in reconnaissance and offensive missions). In fact, special boat squadrons are often used by special agents to carry out amphibious infiltration missions.

Like special boat squadrons, special squadron boat squadrons must also be skilled in water raids and survival. Training is harsh - it takes a lot of time to perform amphibious standard operating procedures training and sneak attack training in icy sea water. The boat squadron’s soldiers have a close relationship with the water, so all of them are swimmers and diving masters. Diving expertise includes the delivery and installation of underwater explosives, and the driving of single or double submarines. They must also be familiar with and master the knowledge and skills of the Royal Navy's nuclear submarine. Because it is sometimes used to deploy with the boat to approach the enemy coastline or underwater.

Like the special boat squadrons, the special squadron boat squadron also has to master the upload and attack tactics. A merchant officer recently described to me a personal experience of him. When his shipping company approached the special air traffic group, a group of special secret services called for boarding the South China Sea. After the boarding application was approved, the crew members remained highly vigilant on the side where the soldiers went to the ship. The sea was illuminated by an arc lamp and the crew were standing by the boat watching. A few hours later, the crew received a notice of return via cable broadcast. Returning to the cockpit, they found that a special crew group had appeared there and the captain was tied to the chair. Even today, the official still does not understand how they got on the ship.

This is the knowledge and skills related to modern ocean-going vessels, military and civil affairs that the boat squadron’s soldiers must master. It includes not only boarding, boating, but also the driving of different boats. The special air traffic mission has a full set of ships for amphibious operations, and small-size ones have human resources, such as the Kreper canoe. This boat is a two-seater, foldable, 5.2 meters long, first put into use in 1950. Although it needs a stable sea state operation, the implementation of concealed navigation on the coasts and rivers of enemy countries is still outstanding.

Diving gliding boats can be used as small submarines or as surface attack boats. The soldiers achieved these two different functions through simple inflation and deflation. Under water, the dinghy boat relies on two 24-volt motors instead of a 90-hp fuel engine. The soldiers did not close the boat using the voyage boat. They sat in the boat with a diving device. Float boats are often placed on the bottom or infiltration waters not far from the target. At this distance, the soldiers can travel a few hundred feet to perform their mission.

In addition to the above two types of boats, there are many conventional boats. One of the most commonly used is a severe intruder. The boat is a hard shell, fast, equipped with a 140-horsepower engine, can transport 4 soldiers at high speed. In the Falklands War, severe intruders were often deployed by special boat squadrons and special squadron boat squadrons to deploy reconnaissance missions.

The characteristics of amphibious operations are cruel. One of the key trainings of the boat squadron is its survival at sea. It includes everything from sea survival to shark prevention. It is the hardest and hardest part of special airline training. Many soldiers disappeared in this dangerous training. Therefore, the boat squadron particularly emphasized that its soldiers should be confident.
