When we look at how to use 3D printing to benefit humanity, some people have turned their attention to the protection of wild animals.
Akut-3 is a cute, red-breasted tortoise that originally lived an ordinary and happy day. Unfortunately, in July last year, a ship flew past, a high-speed rotating propeller slid across its face, and the right face and 60% of the chin were already unknown.
The Dekamer Turtle Research Rescue Center rescued it and used BTech's 3D printing technology to repair the Akut-3's chin.
Step1: Scan
The researchers scanned the skull of the Akut-3 and performed 3D modeling .
Step2: Which one is missing?
According to the established model, the missing part of the red turtle is added.
Step3: Print
Print according to the corresponding part of the model.
Step4: Seamless integration
The researchers implanted the printed prosthesis into the anesthetized red turtle.
After the Akut-3 woke up, it was able to open and close its own chin. Now the team is taking care of the red turtle to prevent infection.
At the time of recovery, Akut-3 will be taken care of with the other 47 partners at the Dekamer Center.

Don't worry, there used to be a turtle called Cleopatra. Because of malnutrition, there are shell hyperplasia, and there are several wounds on the back shell, which is very easy to be infected. Later, a student at Colorado Tech University printed a turtle shell for it in 3D, and it was also painted with a protective color.
