The Belgian brewery Alken Maes has decided to supply 15 million beers in August of this year. It will use a biodegradable plastic cup made of biopolymer to replace the reusable polycarbonate cup. The company will be the first beer manufacturer in Belgium to use this type of cup.
According to reports, this new type of cup was prepared by Huhtamaki using biodegradable plastics. The raw material used was polylactic acid (PLA) NatureWorks manufactured by Cargill Dow using corn processing.
