The invention relates to a packaging machine and/or top film packaging machine and to a method for storing/transporting said machine. The machine includes a frame that is supported on a fixed foundation and includes upstanding vertical columns and horizontal beams connecting the vertical columns to each other. Each vertical column includes at least two column portions that are detachably joined together at their ends, the column portions including a lower column portion and an upper column portion. Only the lower end portions of the vertical columns are connected to each other by beams, and the upper column portions are not connected to each other. For storing and/or transporting the machine, the machine is reduced to a smaller size for packing by separating the upper column portion from the lower column portion of the vertical column; transporting and/or storing the same in a smaller packing size The machine; and in use, the upper column portion is fastened to the lower column portion, thereby setting the machine from the box size to full working size.
